Jose Mourinho is confident Chelsea will sign a left-back before the transfer window closes.
The Blues boss is keen to make a signing as he is currently short of options following Filipe Luis’ departure for Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea have been tipped to sign Ghana left-back Abdul Baba Rahman from German club Augsburg and there has also been speculation that they are interested in Tottenham’s Danny Rose.
Cesar Azpilicueta is expected to play at left-back in Saturday’s Premier League opener against Swansea, but Mourinho believes a new signing is on the way.
“It is something that is agreed between all of us in the club,” he said.
“It is not a situation where the manager says one thing and the board say ‘No you’re wrong, you don’t need it’.
“We have only Cesar Azpilicueta and we need a left-back. I know that and the board know that.
“And my feeling is that we’re going to have one. But obviously there is not only one left-back in the football world.
“There are different options and we will decide when it’s possible to decide.”
Mourinho suggested earlier this week that youngster Bertrand Traore, who is primarily a winger, could be an option at left-back this season.
Traore played in the position during the pre-season friendly against Fiorentina on Wednesday.
