Blues youngsters to play as Terry and others are ruled out
John Terry is one of several Chelsea players to have been ruled out of Saturday’s game at Swansea.
The Blues skipper has not recovered from an Achilles problem, while Loic Remy is out with a groin injury, Eden Hazard is still unavailable, Diego Costa is suspended and Nemanja Matic has also been ruled out after picking up a leg injury.
Gary Cahill, meanwhile, returned to training this week but is nursing a tendon strain and faces a fitness test ahead of the match at the Liberty Stadium.
Guus Hiddink has reiterated that a number of youngsters are likely to be involved – Matt Miazga, Kenedy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and 18-year-old defender Jake Clarke-Salter all featured in last weekend’s 4-0 win at Aston Villa.
“We have a few injured players so we will bring in some youngsters,” interim boss Hiddink said.
“John Terry is not available. He has a little problem with his Achilles and has been on the (training) pitch doing exercises but has not recovered.”
Remy went off midway through the first half of the win at Villa and could miss the rest of the season.
“I don’t know when he will recover, but it is a groin problem and it will last,” Hiddink said.
“When you have that problem you cannot train properly, and there are only a few games left.”
