Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admitted his team paid the price for failing to kill off West Brom.
The Blues dominated most of the game but were unable to add to Branislav Ivanovic’s opener and then conceded an 87th-minute equaliser by Victor Anichebe as Albion piled on the pressure.
It was a frustrating outcome for Chelsea, who would have gone four points clear at the top of the Premier League had they won.
Mourinho said: “In the last 20 minutes they put us under pressure and they scored a goal as a consequence. Maybe they deserved that point. A point is a point and at the end of the season we will see.
“I think the game for 60 minutes was completely in our hands – West Brom didn’t put one foot in our box. We couldn’t kill the game.
“For 60 minutes we were the best team by far. Petr Cech didn’t touch the ball. But for last 20 minutes it was the opposite – they stayed in our half and the last part of the game was difficult for us.
“We’ve had other matches like this one, where we had chances to kill the game and then concede. Today was the same.”
