Alex Kiwomya has returned to Chelsea to be assessed by the club’s medical staff after suffering a dislocated shoulder while playing for Crewe.
Kiwomya, who has impressed since joining Crewe on loan from the Blues, was injured during the League Two side’s 2-0 win at Grimsby on Saturday.
He was taken to hospital but was discharged later that evening after having his shoulder reset.
The 20-year-old winger, who previously had spells on loan at Barnsley and Fleetwood, has scored four goals this season.
It is not yet known how long he is likely to be out of action for.
