Chelsea reach FA Youth Cup quarter-finals
Jacob Maddox scored two of Chelsea’s goals as the holders beat AFC Wimbledon 4-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
There were also goals for Fikayo Tomori and Mukhtar Ali in the match at Wimbledon’s Kingsmeadow ground, where the visitors came on strong in the second half.
Tomori put them ahead after 16 minutes, firing into the net after Tammy Abraham (pictured) had headed the ball across goal.
The hosts were on level terms by half-time courtesy of a goal by Alfie Egan, who headed in after keeper Nathan Baxter punched a cross towards him.
Abraham missed a good chance and Jay Dasilva’s cross deflected on to the Dons bar before Maddox put Chelsea in command, coolly slotting home after beating his man and then making it 3-1 after being set up by Charlie Wakefield.
Ali’s injury-time free-kick capped a resounding win for the young Blues, who will face Reading in the last eight.
