Gilmour ‘looking spot-on’ and is set for Chelsea return, says Lampard
Billy Gilmour is “looking spot-on” and is in contention to play in Chelsea’s Champions League game against Sevilla on Wednesday, says Frank Lampard.
The young Scot has featured for Chelsea’s development side in their recent matches as part of his comeback from a knee injury.
He is now set for a first-team return and boss Lampard is keen to involve him in the Blues’ two remaining Champions League group matches.
“He’s fit now, Billy. He could probably do with some more match minutes,” Lampard said.
“He’s in the squad tomorrow and it would be nice if he could get some minutes, particularly in the two games remaining in the group stage.
“I see him hopefully coming back at a level he was at just before he got injured. He made a great impact.
“There will be so much more to come from him at this club because of the talent he has.
“He’s got a great attitude, trains brilliantly and is looking spot-on, so he comes in to compete with the other players in that midfield area.”
Lampard also confirmed that Callum Hudson-Odoi is back in the squad after being left out against Tottenham on Sunday.
