Fernando Torres is likely to be out for a number of weeks after suffering a knee injury during Chelsea’s 3-1 victory against Manchester United.
The Blues striker sustained suspected ligament damage after coming on as a late substitute at Stamford Bridge, where Samuel Eto’o netted hat-trick.
“It’s the lateral ligament in his knee,” said Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who was full of praise for his players after their excellent win.
He declared: “I’m delighted with the three points and of course I love it when one of my players becomes a special player in a match.
“It was fantastic for Samuel to score a hat-trick against Manchester United and I think we deserved to win.
“We didn’t deserve to be winning 2-0 at half-time and United didn’t deserve to be losing 2-0 – they started much better.
“Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard were losing a lot of balls when they are usually good under pressure and I think United were confident and looked strong.
“But my team at this moment is what I call a humble team. When the opponent is better you have to identify that and be humble. We did that and then we controlled the game.
“It was different in the second half. We controlled it and deserved the win.”
