Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed he is set to take Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea.
A number of Championship clubs, including QPR, have been hoping to sign striker Bamford, 22, on loan if he does not secure another move to the Premier League.
Rangers were told that Bamford, who had disappointing spells on loan at Crystal Palace and Norwich last season, wants another crack at the top flight.
And Bamford is on his way to Turf Moor after being offered the Premier League move he was holding out for.
Dyche said: “It’s looking that way. It’s not quite done, but it is looking that way.”
Dyche was speaking after the Clarets’ 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where he admitted his team were outclassed.
The outstanding Eden Hazard put Chelsea ahead and goals from Willian and Victor Moses sealed a comprehensive victory for the Blues.
Chelsea’s win leaves them top of the Premier League following a hugely encouraging start to their season.
“The first half was as poor as we’ve been in a year,” said Dyche.
“There’s a huge gulf between where we are as a club and where Chelsea are, but when the whistle blows you’ve got to be ready to perform, and we weren’t.
“The second half was marginally better, but overall we made too many poor decisions.”
