Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has poked fun at reports linking David Luiz with a move to Real Madrid.
Luiz, who was recently dropped by the Italian, has missed Chelsea’s last two matches and has also been ruled out of this weekend’s game against Newcastle.
Conte said on Friday afternoon that Luiz continues to have treatment for a knee problem and that it is still unclear how long the Brazilian will be unavailable.
Asked to comment on reports Luiz is set to join Real, Conte said: “I must be honest, I don’t read that. There is speculation in this period.
“I don’t have time to read because we are playing every three days and for this reason my focus is on the pitch to prepare the right way.”
And referring to recent speculation about his own future, Conte joked: “We passed from my sacking to Real Madrid and David Luiz.”
