Conte: Chelsea players must show pride for the fans
Boss Antonio Conte says his side must show pride in their remaining Premier League games for the fans even if the chances of qualifying for the Champions League are slim.
The Blues are eight points adrift of Tottenham in fourth place with seven games left, having last week lost to them at Stamford Bridge for the first time in 28 years.
“We must be realistic,” Conte said. “Tottenham was a bad defeat. We had an opportunity to reduce the gap
“We have to try to do everything to try to continue to have the possibility to fight for a place in the Champions League.
“We must show pride, desire and will to fight until the end of the season. This must be our target. This is very important for me, the staff and players to show this. Our supporters deserve this at least.”
Chelsea, face West Ham on Sunday, while Spurs are away to Stoke and then play Manchester City in their next league match.
“The gap is big and we know this,” Conte added.
“But everyone must show pride in this moment and a great desire to change the situation and not to complain and cry.
“This is the only way we if we want to finish the season in the best possible way.”
