Solanke will need guidance – Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says England youth international Dominic Solanke has all the raw credentials to become a “fantastic” footballer, but needs careful guidance.
Solanke has only just turned 17 but recently signed a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge and was an unused substitute for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
And Mourinho has confirmed that Solanke, who has been with Chelsea since he was seven, will be on the bench for Tuesday’s Champions League home game against Maribor.
“At 17, he has a long way to go but the talent is there, the personality is there too and we are working,” Mourinho said.
“When he is with the academy he works with them and when he is with me he works with me.
“If the people that surround him help him develop in the right way and help the work we are doing in the club, he will be a fantastic player.”
