Rudiger back in Chelsea’s squad for Lille clash
Fikayo Tomori has been ruled out of Chelsea’s all-important Champions League game against Lille but Antonio Rudiger is back in the squad.
Defender Rudiger has made just one first-team appearance this season and has had surgery on a pelvic injury, having previously been troubled by a knee problem.
But the German recently resumed full training and “has a chance” of playing in Tuesday’s game, according to boss Frank Lampard.
Fellow centre-back Tomori has been nursing a hip problem and did not take part in training on Monday morning.
Neither did Olivier Giroud, who is also unavailable for the game.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday afternoon, Lampard insisted Tomori’s injury was not a cause for concern.
“Tomori has a small, tiny strain around the hip area, so we’ve taken him out for a few days,” he said.
A win in their final group game would seal Chelsea’s place in the knockout stage.
They would also go through if they draw and Valencia lose away to Ajax.
