Chelsea duo expected to be passed fit
Didier Drogba and Thibaut Courtois are expected to be passed fit for Chelsea’s game at Stoke on Monday and Kurt Zouma will be available.
Drogba picked up an ankle injury during the midweek Capital One Cup win at Derby, where Blues defender Zouma was stretchered off after being involved in an accidental collision with team-mate Petr Cech.
Goalkeeper Cech was recalled to the starting line-up against Hull last weekend after Courtois picked up a minor injury in training, but the Belgian looks likely to return at the Britannia Stadium.
“I can’t confirm it 100%, but I think [Courtois will be fit],” said Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
“Drogba is recovering from an ankle problem. The game is Monday and, we believe, no problem.”
There was concern for Zouma immediately after he was taken off but he did not require hospital treatment and was quickly given the all-clear.
Cech suggested after the collision that the protective headgear he wears saved both players from serious injury.
And Mourinho said: “Maybe he is right. There was real contact and maybe the helmet was important.”
