Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has revealed he has spoken to Gary Cahill to reassure him he will break back into the side.
The England vice-captain has been left on the bench for the last five Premier League games and there has been speculation that he has become unsettled at Stamford Bridge and wants to leave.
Hiddink admitted Cahill had been “frustrated” at seeing his place alongside captain John Terry being taken by Kurt Zouma, but insisted he would not be leaving.
“I talked to him a few days ago about the situation,” Hiddink said.
“He was very open and very clear that he would love to stay at this club. Of course, not playing brings a little bit of frustration, which is normal.
“But I like very much his attitude in training, he never gives up, and that will always be rewarded. In the multitude of games coming up, everyone will get minutes.
“Recently, he renewed his contract which is a signal that he loves the club. As far as I’m concerned, I will have him in the upcoming months and I think the club will have him in the upcoming years.”
Meanwhile, Hiddink has confirmed that Chelsea plan to complete deals to sign Alexandre Pato and Matt Miazga.
