Chalobah expected to make quick recovery from injury
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah will be unavailable for a week to 10 days, according to head coach Enzo Maresca.
It means he will miss Tuesday’s match against bottom side Southampton but seems on course to back for the game against Manchester City on 9 March.
“He had a check yesterday and he will be around one week or 10 days,” Maresca said on Monday morning.
“It’s not an important injury so that is good, but on the other side it’s also a shame because we lose another player with the amount of injuries we have.”
Chalobah, 25, went off injured after just eight minutes of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
Last month he was recalled from a season-long loan at Crystal Palace because of injuries to other Chelsea defenders.
He had previously been out of favour under Maresca but has been looking to re-establish himself as a first-choice player for the Blues.
Meanwhile, Maresca says Filip Jorgensen remains Chelsea’s number one keeper despite a costly error at Villa.
