Charlton sign Gallagher on loan from Chelsea
Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher has joined Charlton on a season-long loan.
The highly-rated midfielder, 19, was wanted by several Championship clubs, having impressed for Chelsea’s development side.
Charlton’s head of recruitment Steve Gallen told the Addicks’ website: “There were a few clubs in for Conor, as well, so I’m doubly pleased to beat them to his signature and do it in time for the first game of the season.”
Gallagher was among Chelsea’s substitutes for the Europa League final against Arsenal in May.
He was part of England’s Under-17 World Cup winning squad two years ago along with Jay Dasilva, who was previously on loan at Charlton from Chelsea.
The Acton-born Gallen, who spent 19 years on the coaching staff at QPR, added: “His attitude is excellent, he likes to run, tackle and get up and down the pitch and his all-round midfield game makes him a very good addition for us.”
