Atletico Madrid have made an enquiry about the availability of Olivier Giroud.
It follows reports that new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri could be willing to sell Giroud just six months after his move to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal.
Atletico are keen on a loan deal, although a permanent move is also a possibility.
Giroud, 31, became a key player for Chelsea during the second half of last season, which ended with them winning the FA Cup.
He made 13 Premier League appearances for the Blues, scoring three goals.
The France international also scored twice in Chelsea’s run to the cup final, with one of them coming in the semi-final win against Southampton at Wembley.
