Antonio Rudiger and Mateo Kovacic are expected to be available for Chelsea against Manchester United but Ross Barkley looks likely to miss out and there are concerns over Ethan Ampadu.
Barkley, who has been on England duty, picked up a minor injury, as did youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi, who played for England’s Under-19 side.
But the Blues’ greatest injury concern is over youngster Ampadu, who suffered knee injury while playing for Wales against Spain.
Speaking at a media conference on Friday afternoon, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri confirmed that Rudiger and Kovacic have made good progress after treatment on their respective injuries during the international break.
However, the Italian revealed that Chelsea have other injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s game at Stamford Bridge.
“As usual, after the national teams (play), there are some problems,” Sarri explained.
“The most serious I think is with Ampadu. Then we have a little problem with Odoi and a little problem with Barkley. But for Odoi and Barkley it is only a question of one or two days.
“The injury of Ampadu I think is serious. I don’t know how much – but serious. We hope to recover him in a couple of weeks.”
Defender Rudiger withdrew from the Germany squad in order to focus on his recovery from a groin problem.
“Rudiger has done better in the last two days, like Kovacic. I think they will be able to play,” said Sarri.
