Sergio Aguero scored both Manchester City goals as they won the Community Shield in a one-sided game at Wembley. Here’s how we rated each Chelsea player in the 2-0 defeat.
A busy afternoon for the Chelsea goalkeeper, who kept the scoreline respectable with a number of important saves.
Was run ragged by the vibrant City forward line and was helpless to stop it.
Also endured a tough afternoon as City piled forward.
Had plenty of defending to do and was not given as much time on the ball as he would have liked. Allowed Aguero to sneak away from him for the second goal.
Worked hard, but was unable to offer an attacking outlet as he was penned back.
Not the impact he or boss Maurizo Sarri would have been wanting, Jorginho was unable to stem the tide of City attacks and at times struggled to retain possession.
Has been struggling with a knock in pre-season. Had an ineffective outing and lasted only 60 minutes.
Apart from a 20-minute spell at the end of the first half, this was an anonymous showing from the midfielder.
Had a tough assignment against Kyle Walker but improved as the first half went on and was Chelsea’s best attacking outlet.
Had a decent effort in the first half but barely had a touch after the break as City dominated.
Unable to make much of an impact, he had one effort before half-time but was otherwise anonymous.
Showed bursts of pace after coming on but could not change the flow of the game.
Made little difference in a midfield, which was getting overrun.
Put himself about and almost got a goal to show for it.
Had little time to make an impact.
