Antonio Rudiger made his Chelsea debut as they lost 2-1 to Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly in Singapore.
Fellow summer signing Alvaro Morata made his first start for the Blues, whose goal was an incredible own goal by Geoffrey Kondogbia, whose overhit back-pass sailed into the net from 40 yards out.
By that stage the Premier League champions were two down after goals from Stevan Jovetic and Ivan Perisic.
Former Manchester City man Jovetic opened the scoring shortly before half-time.
After he was adjudged to have been fouled by Cesar Azpilicueta, keeper Thibaut Courtois saved his penalty but Jovetic scored from the rebound.
Jovetic was also involved in Inter’s second, setting up Perisic to score seven minutes into the second half.
Morata played 64 minutes, while German defender Rudiger came on as a second-half substitute.
Chelsea captain Gary Cahill picked up a knock in the first half but was able to continue after treatment.
Michy Batshuayi was lively again and thought he had equalised when he found the nate late on, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
