Another goal for Morata as Chelsea beat Everton
Chelsea 2 Everton 0
First-half goals from Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata gave Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas, recalled following his recent suspension, netted in the 27th minute.
Willian found space on the right and laid the ball inside to the Blues midfielder, who exchanged passes with Morata before guiding a low shot beyond Jordan Pickford and into the far corner of the net.
Chelsea had been on top, with Pedro sending an overhead kick over and seeing an effort saved by keeper Pickford, who also kept out a long-range shot from David Luiz.
They continued to dominate after Fabregas’ opener and doubled their lead five minutes before the interval, when Morata headed home Cesar Azpilicueta’s right-wing cross moments after Chelsea felt they should have been awarded a penalty for a foul on Victor Moses.
It was Morata’s second goal in three Premier League appearances since his club-record move from Real Madrid this summer.
Chelsea remained dominant in the second half and Pedro missed a good chance just before hour mark when he fired wide of the near post after nutmegging Gylfi Sigurdsson.
And Moses shot straight at Pickford after also creating an opportunity for himself.
