Jorginho ‘absolutely ecstatic’ to join Chelsea
Jorginho said he was “absolutely ecstatic” to join Chelsea after his move from Napoli was finalised.
The Italy international midfielder, 26, was also wanted by Manchester City, who discussed a £50m deal to sign him.
But Jorginho chose Chelsea, where he will link up with his former boss at Napoli, Maurizio Sarri, whose arrival as head coach was also announced on Saturday.
Jorginho has signed a five-year contract and has been allocated Chelsea’s number 5 shirt for the coming season.
“I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy,” Jorginho told the Blues’ website.
“I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: “We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea.
“He was one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe and will become an important member of the playing squad.”

Conte was bad for Chelsea. Welcome onboard, Sarri. Wish you good luck.
