Frank Lampard says he has “absolutely no fear” that Chelsea’s leading scorer Tammy Abraham is failing to deliver in big games.
Abraham has 10 Premier League goals already this season, as well as a goal in the Champions League and one for England.
But the 22-year-old, who is set to lead the Chelsea attack in the away Champions League game against Valencia on Wednesday, has failed to score in the league against Manchester United, Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester City.
“It depends what you classify as a big game,” said Blues boss Lampard. “If you want to talk about Lille away in a difficult Champions League game then that’s a big game for me.
“If you want to talk about every game in the Premier League then that’s a big game for me. If you want to classify the top six in the Premier League then who are the top six? From week to week it changes.
“So Tammy scored a big number of goals. He is second in the Premier League rankings for a reason. He scored a goal in Europe. He scored for his country recently. I have absolutely no fear to that.”
