Kante passed fit to return for Chelsea

N’Golo Kante has been included in the Chelsea squad for the Champions League game against Ajax after being passed fit to return to action.

Kante trained on Monday morning and boss Frank Lampard subsequently confirmed at a news conference that the Frenchman is now available for selection.

Having previously struggled with knee, ankle and hamstring problems, Kante’s troubled spell continued when he picked up a groin injury while on international duty with France.

He last played for Chelsea a month ago in the 4-1 win at Southampton – only his fourth Premier League appearance this season.

“He’s in the squad, so he’s fit in terms of it looking like the injuries and the niggles he was getting have cleared up and we’ve been able to get some work into him,” said Lampard.

“It was always a little bit stop-start before that. But he’s in the squad and available.”

Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen, who have also been sidelined recently, trained on Monday as well and could feature in Tuesday’s game.

Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger saw a consultant on Monday morning and Chelsea are waiting for news on the defender’s groin problem.
