Toothless Chelsea draw in Tuchel’s first game

Chelsea dominated in terms of possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances in a disappointing start to Thomas Tuchel’s reign.

New boss Tuchel wasted no time in stamping his authority on the squad, leaving out Mason Mount – a regular under the sacked Frank Lampard – and deploying Callum Hudson-Odoi as a wing-back.

Chelsea’s best opportunity fell to Ben Chilwell, who fired over after being teed up by Kai Havertz.

Mateo Kovacic sent a strike just wide and Hudson-Odoi saw a shot pushed away by keeper Rui Patrício.

But the best chance of the game fell to Wolves’ Pedro Nedro, who scooped the ball over the bar after getting through on goal.
