Ten-man Chelsea see off Leicester
Raheem Sterling scored twice – his first goals for the club – as 10-man Chelsea won at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues took the points despite the first-half sending-off of Conor Gallagher for a second booking in the space of seven minutes.
Sterling broke the deadlock just over a minute into the second half when his effort looped into the top corner.
And he doubled the lead by applying the finish after being found by Reece James.
Harvey Barnes pulled a goal back for Leicester, slotting home after exchanging passes with Jamie Vardy.
Chelsea had to absorb late pressure, with Ayoze Perez hitting the bar and Vardy twice going close.
“The sending-off gives you a massive disadvantage,” said Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
“I’m happy that we hung in and happy that we showed the mentality that was necessary to have at least the chance to get away with the win.
“We conceded a goal – totally unnecessary – and were under pressure. We were lucky in the end not to concede an equaliser, but we did everything to get that chance.”
