Rudiger plays as Chelsea youngsters pull off late comeback

Antonio Rudiger continued his comeback from a knee injury by playing another full 90 minutes for Chelsea’s development side on Friday evening.

Rudiger, who featured in recent game against Liverpool’s second string, was this time involved in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham at Aldershot, where Tariq Lamptey equalised in the final moments as the hosts came back from two down.

Phoenix Patterson fired Tottenham ahead and Harvey White scored with a 20th-minute penalty after Lamptey had fouled Shilow Tracey.

Clinton Mola pulled a goal back in fine style midway through the second half, evading a number of challenges before finishing.

And Mola was involved in the build-up to Lamptey levelling with an emphatic finish with seconds remaining.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard revealed earlier on Friday that defender Rudiger would play in the game.

“Rudiger is going to play in the Under-23s tonight – hopefully for the final time in terms of getting his proper match fitness,” Lampard said.
