Chelsea’s James out of England Under-21 squad because of injury
Chelsea’s Reece James has been withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad because of injury.
The right-back recently made an impressive return to action for Chelsea after an ankle problem and was expected to feature in the Young Lions’ games against Slovenia and Austria.
Trevoh Chalobah, who is currently on loan from the Blues at Championship club Huddersfield, has also withdrawn from the squad, in his case as a precaution because of a minor problem.
Chelsea have not revealed the nature of James’ injury. The club announced on Thursday that both players had been withdrawn “due to fitness concerns”.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, who also recently returned to action, flew out with the Under-21 squad to Slovenia, as did fellow Chelsea youngster Marc Guehi.
