Sergio Aguero’s goals won the Community Shield for Manchester City in a one-sided game at Wembley.
City went ahead on 13 minutes when Phil Foden teed up Aguero, who was given space by Toni Rudiger and capitalised by firing through the Chelsea defender’s legs and into the bottom corner of the net.
Aguero struck again just before the hour mark after Callum Hudson-Odoi had lost possession.
City counter-attacked and Bernardo Silva played in the Argentine striker, who drifted behind David Luiz and finished coolly.
The exciting Hudson-Odoi threatened City on occasions in the first half, including when he swept past Kyle Walker and tried his luck with a shot keeper Claudio Bravo fumbled.
But the Premier League champions were largely comfortable and could easily have won by a greater margin.
Willy Caballero denied Aguero a hat-trick by keeping out a volley from his international team-mate who, along with youngster Foden, was outstanding throughout.
Keeper Caballero had a very decent game and produced late saves to deny Brahim Díaz twice and Gabriel Jesus.
Chelsea, who start their Premier League season at Huddersfield next weekend, will first end their pre-season campaign with a friendly against Lyon at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Chelsea: Caballero, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, David Luiz, Alonso, Jorginho, Fabregas (Drinkwater 61), Barkley, Pedro (Moses 81), Hudson-Odoi (Willian 61), Morata (Abraham 70).
Subs not used: Bulka, Christensen, Zappacosta.

David Silva wasn't even on the bench.
Sigh.
