Chelsea confirm signing of United States star Macario

Chelsea Women have completed the signing of United States forward Catarina Macario.

The 23-year-old’s contract at French club Lyon expires at the end of the month and she has agreed a three-year deal with the Blues.

Macario since not played since June last year because of a long-term knee injury and will miss this summer’s World Cup.


“I can’t wait to get started here. I’m really happy to sign for Chelsea and I hope to represent the jersey well over the next few years,” she said.

“I’ve been fortunate to have some great experiences in Europe already with Lyon, playing with many top players and of course winning the Champions League also.

“I hope to carry on those experiences here and bring home the trophy for Chelsea as well.”
