Transfer gossip: Speculation over Broja’s future continues

Transfer speculation in Sunday’s newspapers involving Chelsea…

There continues to be speculation over the future of Chelsea’s young forward Armando Broja.

Southampton, who have had him on loan this season, are keen to sign him on a permanent deal and a number of other clubs are said to be interested.

The Sunday Express claim Arsenal have been joined by Newcastle and West Ham in a battle to sign Broja this summer.

Lampard linked with Colwill

Everton’s former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants to sign Levi Colwill on loan for next season, according to The Sun on Sunday.

Centre-back Colwill, 19, has impressed on loan from Chelsea at Championship play-off finalists Huddersfield.

That has sparked speculation about his future, with several clubs having been linked with him.

The Sun on Sunday say Lampard is keen to take him to Goodison Park and that there is also interest from Crystal Palace.

Tuchel could look to sign forwards – Observer

The Observer reports that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has hinted that he might look to sign forwards this summer.

It comes after a season in which Romelu Lukaku has struggled for form and Timo Werner has also had problems in front of goal.

The Observer say Tuchel “is unsure if his options are good enough to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.”

The story is based on comments made by Tuchel ahead of Sunday’s game against Watford.

“If we stick to the group then we will try to solve it with these players,” Tuchel said.

“Is it necessary to bring more offensive players around the box to create more distractions, to create more space for each other? We will ask that question.

“Can we do better in the structure? Can we push the players more? Did we rotate too much? Let’s see.

“There are a lot of options. The numbers we produce from our offensive players don’t allow us to overperform and we need overperformance if we want to be nearer to the top two teams.

“I am not pointing fingers, I am not blaming anybody, but we need overperformance from everybody. It’s not overperformance if we have only single figures in scoring and assisting.”
