N’Golo Kante has returned to London from Chelsea’s pre-season trip to Japan for more treatment on his ongoing knee problem.
The French midfielder, who has not featured in the Blues’ pre-season campaign, picked up the injury in May.
The then Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri suggested at the time that he had made a mistake by not resting Kante.
Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham and keeper Kepa have returned to training.
Both players missed the recent 1-0 loss to Kawasaki Frontale because of illness but could be involved against Barcelona on Tuesday.
