Pochettino hails Broja after Chelsea’s cup win

Mauricio Pochettino hailed Armando Broja as one of the best young players in Europe after Chelsea beat Preston 4-0 to cruise into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The striker scored the first of four second-half goals as the Blues put in a much-improved performance after the break, having failed to create much in the first 45 minutes.

“I need to be honest, he needs to use this type of game to improve,” boss Pochettino said.

“The potential is amazing. We are talking about one of the young strikers here in England and in Europe with the most potential.

“He needs to push himself. We are going to try to push him to realise that it is never enough and to work really hard.

“The expectation is massive. We really believe in him.”

Chelsea scored three goals in 11 minutes, with Broja and Thiago Silva powering headers home before Raheem Sterling curled a free-kick past keeper Freddie Woodman.

The win was wrapped up with five minutes to go, when Enzo Fernandez tapped in from close range and a lengthy VAR check confirmed he was onside.
