Andre Villas-Boas has again insisted that he has the full support of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich – but knows he needs a victory against Birmingham in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The under-pressure Chelsea manager faces an important week, with a Champions League showdown with Napoli also on the horizon.
But despite poor results and reports of player unrest, Villas-Boas remains defiant.
He said: “I think the owner has full trust in me and we will continue to progress with the ideas we have. My authority is total because it is the owner’s authority.”
However, failure to see off a Championship side at home would turn up the heat on the 34-year-old, who accepts his team must show a marked improvement.
“I think everybody understands that we need more,” he admitted.
“The results have not been impressive, so responsibility must be shared with players and management. We need results to put ourselves back on track.”
