Di Matteo shrugs off speculation about future ahead of final
Roberto Di Matteo shrugged off speculation about his future on the eve of the FA Cup final.
A Wembley triumph against Liverpool on Saturday could increase calls for him to be given the Chelsea manager’s job at the end of the season.
One bookmaker has even stopped taking bets on the Italian being given the nod by owner Roman Abramovich.
But Di Matteo insisted: “I’m not thinking about that. It’s totally irrelevant. I’m just thinking about tomorrow’s game and bringing a trophy home.
“People can speculate, write and say whatever they want. My position hasn’t changed from day one. I know what I have to do from now until the end of the season.”
Chelsea will be without defenders David Luiz and Gary Cahill, who are still struggling with hamstring injuries.
And Di Matteo will face some difficult choices, with Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres vying for a place up front.
He said: “Everybody wants to be a part of it tomorrow. They all want to put their bodies on the line.”
