Di Matteo confirms Luiz will miss both Barca games

Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that David Luiz will be sidelined for both legs of Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

The defender was declared a major doubt for Wednesday’s game after being carried off with a hamstring injury during the FA Cup victory over Tottenham at the weekend.

Luiz has now been ruled out of both clashes with Barca as well as Saturday’s vital league match against Arsenal.

Interim boss Di Matteo admitted: “It’s a big loss for us. He’s a fantastic centre-half who’s been in good form. 

“He will miss tomorrow but we hope to get him back in a time-frame of two weeks and get him back before the end of the season.”
