Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo expects defender David Luiz to be available for the game against Newcastle on Saturday.
Luiz missed the Blues’ home win over Reading, having posted on Twitter that he had a knee problem.
His absence prompted newspaper speculation that he had been left out because Chelsea were discussing a possible deal to sell him to Manchester City.
It has been reported that a £30m bid from the Premier League champions was subsequently rejected.
Di Matteo said: “I expect him to be available for Saturday. It [Luiz’s injury] is just a minor issue.”
When asked about Luiz revealing that he would miss the Reading match, Di Matteo replied: “The social media thing is all around us now. We’ll deal with it internally.”
