Thibaut Courtois is back in the Chelsea squad for Saturday’s game against Bournemouth but captain John Terry again misses out.
Belgian keeper Courtois has been out for almost three months with a knee injury but could return against the Cherries.
“He was our goalkeeper all last season and we know how fundamental he was for us. It’s very important that we have him back,” said boss Jose Mourinho.
“To miss Courtois for a couple of matches, we knew we had good protection and a good goalkeeper [Asmir Begovic]. But to lose your number one for three months – something like 19 matches in all competitions, without the best goalkeeper in the world – is hard for us.
“Now we are in a super situation by having the best [Courtois] and a very good one [Begovic]. If he doesn’t play against Bournemouth, he will play against Porto on Wednesday.”
However, Terry has not recovered from the ankle injury that kept him out of last Sunday’s draw with Tottenham. Ramires and Radamel Falcao are also ruled out.
