Conte wants Chelsea players to share his frustration

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says his players must feel the same frustration he does if they want to improve.

Conte said he was “bored” of having to talk about missed chances this season after seeing the latest example when his side were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues dominated but missed a series of opportunities to double the lead given to them by Cesar Azpilicueta’s first-half goal.

And Hammers substitute Javier Hernandez grabbed the equaliser to earn the relegation-threatened Hammers a crucial point and leave Chelsea 10 points adrift of the Champions League qualification places.

“You must win these games if you want to reach the target,” Conte said. “The other teams are clinical. We have struggled a lot in these games.

“It was not a positive result. You must win this game. I am very frustrated and I hope all my players go home and are very frustrated.

“If this is the way, we have the right mentality. If we accept the result and say we are unlucky then you are building nothing positive for the future.”

Conte also said he could understand why supporters became increasingly frustrated after West Ham drew level.

“There is disappointment,” he added. “This is normal, because we must be disappointed for the final result. After a game like this you must get three points.

“We are paying a lot for these type of situations this season. When you are having this regularly this means you have a problem.”
