Boss Antonio Conte said Tiemoue Bakayoko still has room for improvement after the French midfielder helped Chelsea to a 2-1 victory over Leicester.
Summer signing Bakayoko was not fit enough to begin the season, but made his second start at the King Power Stadium.
Conte is happy with the 23-year-old’s progress but said there is much more to come.
“I think Baka is improving his condition and also he is starting to understand and to adapt himself to our style of football,” Conte said.
“For sure has to improve with the ball because without the ball he is very strong.
“Baka is a young player and he is a good signing for us. But he has a lot of space to improve with the ball.”
Goals from Alvaro Morata and former Foxes midfielder N’Golo Kante put Chelsea 2-0 ahead soon after the break and although Jamie Vardy’s penalty reduced the deficit to ensure a nervy finale, Conte’s side saw out the victory.
“I think the mentality was very, very strong, very positive and very good until the penalty,” Conte said.
“We were in total control of the game and conceded only after one counter attack.
“After the penalty Leicester tried to put a bit of pressure on but despite this we created many chances to improve the scoreline and we must be satisfied.
“To do win three wins in a row is important for the players. We are doing very well.
“In England it is not easy to win. I have great players. My players are reliable and I trust them.”
