Antonio Conte praised Eden Hazard after his starring role in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle.
Chelsea came from behind at Stamford Bridge, where the outstanding Hazard scored twice.
“He played a really good game. I think he enjoyed playing this type of football,” said Blues boss Conte.
“Eden for us is an important player. With him we have change system – we can play him as a second striker or as a number 10. Today I saw a lot of good link-up and combination play.”
There was praise too for summer signing Danny Drinkwater, who was given a starting place in midfield.
Conte said: “Danny today started the game like the team; a bit slow but then improved a lot.
“It’s great for me and for the team to have another option, especially when we play with three midfielders. To have another option is of vital importance.”
Chelsea’s win was their sixth in seven matches and came after they hit back strongly following Dwight Gayle’s early goal.
Hazard equalised, Alvaro Morata put them ahead with his 10th goal of season and Hazard’s second-half penalty sealed a resounding victory.
“We must be pleased. It was a good answer from all of my players,” Conte said.
“We started the game a bit slow but when we went a 1-0 down we started to play with good intensity.
“It’s not simple to go one down and then have the right will and desire to fight. It was very important to take the three points and we did this.”
