Conte tells fans he is ‘fully committed’ to Chelsea

Antonio Conte has insisted he remains “fully committed” to Chelsea despite speculation over his future as the transfer deadline approaches.

The Blues boss wants new signings to be made and some reports have claimed he could even quit if the club do not bring in players before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

He was asked after the 2-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge if he had a message for Chelsea fans who might be concerned at reports he might walk away.

The Italian responded: “My message for the fans is always the same: I am totally committed to the club and totally committed to working to improve my players.

“I am a coach, not a manager. The best of my work is on the pitch improving my players. I must be focused on this.”

However, Conte reiterated that the squad needs to be strengthened before the window closes, particularly given the packed schedule Chelsea will face after the international break.

“There are four days to go in the transfer market and I think the club is working very hard to try to improve our squad,” he said.

“Don’t forget that next month in September we have to play seven games in a month and I need to rotate my players. It is very difficult to play seven games with the same players.

“I think the club is working very hard to strengthen the squad and knows the situation.

“But I repeat: I am ready to work with these players.”

Those players were impressive against Everton, winning comfortably courtesy of first-half goals from Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata.

Conte said: “We must be pleased with the performance. We created many chances to score and I saw many positive things.”
