Chelsea must show ‘great resilience’ against Barcelona – Conte

Antonio Conte says Chelsea will need to show resilience against Barcelona if they are to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Chelsea are underdogs for Wednesday’s second leg at the Nou Camp, where Barca’s star-studded side will start with a potentially crucial away goal, having drawn 1-1 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg.

But the Blues’ performance in that game has given boss Conte every confidence in his players’ ability to cause an upset.

“We have to show great resilience,” Conte said.

“We are playing against one of the best teams in the world and we have to try to have the same focus – the same attention as in the first leg.

“We played a really great game. It was almost the perfect game if we didn’t concede the goal at the last.

“It won’t be easy. We have to try the right solution to play this game.”

Defender Antonio Rudiger is expected to join the Chelsea squad for the trip after missing Saturday’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace because of a minor injury.
