Antonio Conte has backed Michy Batshuayi amid criticism of the striker and speculation that he could leave Chelsea on loan.
The 24-year-old’s last first-team goals came in October when he scored a double after coming on in the 4-2 win over Watford.
He has failed impress in his 10 subsequent appearances and has often been overlooked by Blues boss Conte, even when first-choice striker Alvaro Morata has been absent.
Reports in Spain say Sevilla are pursuing a deal to sign Batshuayi on loan.
Conte said: “It is not simple to be young and play in a great team like Chelsea.
“I am very happy for his commitment, his behaviour during training and happy when he plays and I call him to start the game.
“He is a young player that has a good future in front of him. He has to continue to work and have commitment.”
