Cole has ankle problem but youngster Piazon could face United

Ashley Cole will not be considered for Chelsea’s Capital One Cup clash with Manchester United because of an ankle problem.

The Blues left-back picked up the injury during Sunday’s controversial league encounter between the two sides at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is also without the sidelined Frank Lampard and the suspended Branislav Ivanovic, Fernando Torres and John Terry, but both managers planned to make changes for Wednesday’s game in any case.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to feature up front and there could also be an opportunity for teenage forward Lucas Piazon, who has shaken off a hamstring problem and is available.
