Chelsea’s development side lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool ahead of the first-team’s game at Anfield.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (pictured) scored a fine individual goal in the match at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground after Harry Wilson had put the Premier League 2 leaders ahead.
Ben Woodburn restored Liverpool’s lead three minutes before the interval and Wilson scored again in the second half.
Earlier on Saturday, Charlie Brown, on as a substitute, scored a second-half hat-trick for Chelsea Under-18s in a 7-0 demolition of West Ham.
Jon Russell, Marc Guehi, Tairiq Uwakwe and Clinton Mola also scored in a totally one-sided match at Cobham, where the home team were 4-0 up at half-time.
Russell’s close-range finish opened the scoring after just three minutes and Guehi doubled the lead with a header from Uwakwe’s corner.
A cracking strike from Mola made it three and Uwakwe extended the lead by scoring at the second attempt after his first effort had been saved by keeper Bobbie Biddle.
Brown was brought on at half-time and hit the woodwork, as did Juan Castillo.
Brown eventually made it 5-0 after finding himself through on goal, netted again following a defensive mix-up, and then completed his hat-trick and a resounding Chelsea victory.
