Gilmour out of Scotland game after testing positive for Covid-19
Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour has been ruled out of Scotland’s all-important Euro 2020 match against Croatia after testing positive for Covid-19.
The midfielder was outstanding for Scotland in their recent 0-0 draw with England at Wembley.
That result means Steve Clarke’s side can progress from Group D to the knockout phase of the tournament if they win Tuesday’s game.
But Gilmour must now isolate for 10 days, meaning he will be unavailable for the match at Hampden Park.
“The Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland national team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for Covid-19,” the SFA said.
“Having liaised with Public Health England since the positive test was recorded, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s Uefa EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.”
