Chelsea’s brilliant win at Everton – in pictures
Chelsea moved a step closer to the Premier League title by winning 3-0 at Everton, where three goals in the space of 20 second-half minutes turned the match decisively in their favour.
Pedro broke the deadlock with a stunning goal before goals from Gary Cahill and substitute Willian sealed a resounding win for the Blues.
Pedro’s beauty
Everton kept them at bay until the 66th minute, when Pedro collected Nemanja Matic’s pass and found the net with a glorious left-footed strike from near the edge of the penalty area.
A touch of good fortune
Chelsea doubled their lead when keeper Maarten Stekelenburg meekly parried Eden Hazard’s low free-kick and the ball ricocheted off Cahill into the net.
A touch of pure class
But there was nothing fortuitous about Chelsea’s third goal, which came when Willian finished off a classy move. Diego Costa received a pass from Marcos Alonso and threaded the ball through to Cesc Fabregas, who pulled it back for Willian to apply the finish.
Conte’s delight
Boss Antonio Conte was overjoyed at the final whistle and understandably so – not only did his team move towards the title, the clean sheet was their first in 12 matches.
Nearly there
Chelsea’s travelling fans celebrated a crucial – and well deserved – victory. They know their team are within touching distance of being crowned champions.
