Baba Rahman looks likely to complete loan move
Baba Rahman looks likely to return to Schalke on loan from Chelsea.
The left-back, 23, has been out of action for almost a year, having suffered a serious knee injury while on loan at the German club last season.
Blues boss Antonio Conte recently said the player was “struggling a lot” and that it was unclear whether he would be loaned out again.
However, Chelsea now appear to be ready to agree a deal with Schalke.
Conte said: “Baba is recovering from a bad injury and I hadn’t the possibility to see him in training with us – only once or twice – because he wasn’t ready to have full training sessions.
“Now he’s recovering and I think it could be an interesting option for the player to try to recover with them.
“For sure Baba is recovering. He is not ready in this moment, otherwise Baba Rahman would stay with us and be in my squad.”
Meanwhile, new signing Ross Barkley is on course to make his Chelsea debut in next week’s FA Cup third-round replay against Norwich.
