Kasey Palmer’s early goal was enough to give Chelsea a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough in their final Under-21 Premier League match of 2015.
Prolific striker Tammy Abraham was the goal creator on this occasion, finding space on the left and crossing for Palmer to finish coolly.
Palmer has himself been in good scoring form – it was his ninth goal in all competitions this season.
The visitors created chances to equalise and would have drawn level late on but for a terrific double save from keeper Bradley Collins, who made a number of impressive stops.
At the other end, Boro keeper Joe Fryer produced good saves to deny Palmer, Charly Musonda and Charlie Colkett.
